P5 HCL Learning Journey to SPH 2026
P5 HCL Learning Journey to Singapore Press Holdings 2026
Primary 5 Higher Chinese Language students participated in a learning journey to Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), where they gained exposure to the media industry and learned how news is produced and communicated to the public.
During the visit, students were introduced to the basic processes involved in news production and the different media platforms used to share information with audiences. They also learned about the various roles within the media industry, such as journalists, radio presenters, editors, photographers, and visual artists (e.g. painters and designers), helping them appreciate how different professionals work together to deliver news and information to the public. This provided students with meaningful insights into possible career pathways in the media and creative industries as part of their Education and Career Guidance (ECG) learning.
A key highlight of the learning journey was the opportunity to observe and participate in a live on-air session at Radio 100.3. Students gained first-hand insights into how a radio station operates, including live broadcasting procedures, teamwork behind the scenes, and effective oral communication in a real-time setting.
Through this experiential learning journey, students developed a better understanding of the media landscape and became better at understanding news and information.
