P3 P4 HCL Learning Journey to Chinatown Heritage Centre 2026
P3 & P4 HCL Learning Journey to Chinatown Heritage Centre 2026
Our Primary 3 and Primary 4 Higher Chinese Language students visited the Chinatown Heritage Centre, where they embarked on an immersive cultural and historical journey into the lives of early Chinese migrants in Singapore. The Centre’s exhibits recreated the authentic living and working conditions of Chinatown’s early residents, offering students a vivid glimpse into the past.
Through interactive and immersive exhibits, students explored everyday life in 1950s Chinatown — from cramped living cubicles and traditional trades to the challenges faced by families as they adapted to life in a new environment. These displays helped students gain a deeper understanding of the hardships and resilience of the early settlers who laid the foundations of the community we see today.
The visit also encouraged students to appreciate the perseverance and contributions of these pioneers to Singapore’s multicultural heritage. This meaningful experience enriched students’ understanding of Singapore’s history and strengthened their connection to the cultural roots of the Chinese community in Singapore.
